Statistically Tracking COVID 19 Pandemic’
During the lockdown, under the Department of Economics Ms. Samiksha Jadhav organized a National Webinar on the topic ‘Statistically Tracking Covid 19 Pandemic’ on May 25, 2020, which was attended by more than 200 participants on zoom platform.
The resource person was Dr. Neeraj Hatekar, Professor in Econometrics, Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy (Autonomous). The initial part of the session was handled by Ms. Samiksha Jadhav and the question answers session was taken care of by Mr. Rahul Dandekar. The organizing committee included Ms. Pooja Yadav, Dr. Preeti Vaswani in addition to the Department members. Mr. Justin Tuscano helped with the technical help from the beginning till the end.
Dr. Hatekar gave a comparative analysis of Covid 19 spread in various states. It was indeed a very lively webinar where he presented his analysis through diagrams from R software. He explained the concept of ‘Mean Doubling period’ and ‘R worm’.
The session was liked by all and the department received very good and encouraging feedback from the participants. The department is very thankful to Dr. Hatekar for his valuable time and his real-time analysis.
